Pre-Roll Review SOP

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Reviewing Pre-Rolled Cannabis

1. Introduction

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) outlines the systematic process for reviewing pre-rolled cannabis products. The purpose of this procedure is to ensure consistent evaluation of pre-rolled cannabis items across five essential categories. Each category is worth 10 points, resulting in a total score out of 50 points.

2. Safety and Compliance (10 points)

  • Packaging and Labeling (5 points): Verify if the packaging is child-resistant and properly sealed. Check for accurate product labeling, including THC/CBD content, strain name, and producer information.
  • Compliance with Local Regulations (5 points): Ensure the product adheres to local cannabis regulations, including appropriate licensing and testing requirements.

3. Visual Inspection (10 points)

  • Appearance (5 points): Assess the overall appearance of the pre-rolled joint, looking for quality in rolling, absence of tears, and even distribution of cannabis material.
  • Trichome Presence (5 points): Examine the pre-roll for the presence of trichomes, indicating the quality of the cannabis flower used.

4. Aroma and Flavor (10 points)

  • Aroma (5 points): Evaluate the scent of the pre-roll. Note the complexity, intensity, and freshness of the aroma.
  • Flavor Profile (5 points): Assess the taste of the pre-roll, considering factors such as smoothness, richness, and presence of distinct cannabis flavors.

5. Smoking Experience (10 points)

  • Burn Rate (3 points): Observe the evenness of the burn. A slow, even burn is indicative of a well-rolled joint.
  • Smoke Density (3 points): Evaluate the density of smoke produced when the pre-roll is lit. Thicker smoke often indicates higher cannabinoid content.
  • Ash Quality (4 points): Inspect the color and texture of the ash. Light gray ash that falls off easily suggests a cleaner, well-cured product.

6. Overall Effect (10 points)

  • Potency (5 points): Evaluate the overall strength of the pre-roll’s effects. Consider the intensity and duration of the high or therapeutic effects.
  • Consistency (5 points): Assess whether the pre-roll delivers a consistent experience across multiple uses, indicating uniformity in the product’s composition.

Calculate the total score out of 50 based on the evaluation in each category. Document the scores and provide a concise summary of the pre-rolled cannabis product’s strengths and areas for improvement. Ensure that this SOP is followed consistently by all reviewers to maintain standardized evaluations and assist customers in making informed decisions.
